Standards of diverse natures are the backbone of any collaborative human effort. Being the archetype of such efforts, one can imagine how relevant standards are for networks; standards of any kind: formal, de-facto, and open-source implementations.
Dr. Diego Lopez-Garcia, Telefonica I+D, Spain
Getting innovation out of the research labs and into the real world is not an easy task. Quite often, the implementation of even the brightest ideas need help – and clear standards provide that help by creating a framework for alignment across the ecosystem."
Dr. Michael Peeters, Nokia, USA
Observing new challenges arising for enabling “smarter” cities across the world, we are more and more convinced that
flexible and versatile infrastructure has become indispensable for resolving them and creating new values for our society.
Innovative technologies are being developed rapidly these days and 5G mobile networking technology is not an exception.
I strongly believe that IEEE CSCN 2016 help develop "co-opetition” towards realizing fantastic future for our planet.
Prof. Akihiro Nakao, The University of Tokyo, 5GMF Network Architecture Committee Chair, Japan
As VP-Industry and Standards in IEEE ComSoc, I advocate a full innovation cycle approach to standards, including pre-standards research,
market-driven open standardization, and post-standards technology training. IEEE-CSCN is an essential part of
this strategy, bringing together academic researchers and industry practitioners to exchange information
across the full breadth of ComSoc's technological scope. This approach benefits both researchers who learn
about industry requirements, and practitioners who are exposed to the latest technological developments.
This is a true expression of IEEE's mission of "Advancing Technology for Humanity."
Dr. Robert Fish, Princeton University and VP Industry and Standards, IEEE ComSoc, USA
I am proud to act as General Chair for CSCN 2016 in my home city Berlin.
Being active since more than 20 years in the development, prototyping and validation of emerging standards in
the field of converging fixed and mobile networks, we know, how complex standards are and how important - ideally open source –
software toolkits implementing these emerging standards are for the establishment of technology testbeds and the performance of PoCs.
We are happy to show CSCN delegates our FOKUS 5G Playground based on our OpenXXX Toolkits.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Magedanz, Fraunhofer Fokus, Germany
